IST2008 is the fourth in a series of biannual events organized by the Iran Telecom Research Center (ITRC) and designed to provide opportunity for academicians and specialists from the international telecom community to meet their peers in Iran and to discuss the latest developments in emerging technologies, progress in standards, services and their applications in information and telecommunication systems. The symposium will feature world-renowned keynote speakers, contributed papers, panels, special sessions, tutorials and an exhibition. Also, the event will feature a banquet, concert, visits and excursion tours to historic sites.

  • Papers
    Authors are requested to submit full papers of their original work by May 20th 2008.
    To submit a paper, please see Paper Submission Rule below All papers should be written in English and submitted electronically in PDF format using the given template and mentioning the relevant category number(s) from the list above. Optionally, authors may also submit a copy of the same paper in either Word format or Latex with Zip or RAR file extension. These latter formats will be used for printing accepted submissions in the IST Proceedings. Arrival of the proposals will be acknowledged by e-mail. Each submission will be subjected to review by 3 members of the Technical Program Committee and decision taken by the local TPC. The authors will be informed of the review result by the assigned deadline. Length of papers is limited to 4-6 pages. An accepted paper must be presented by one of the authors and all presenting authors must register in the Symposium. Conference Proceedings are anticipated to be indexed by IEEE.


    • Proposals submitted to IST2008 should not be submitted in parallel to other events. Proposals accepted or rejected by other similar events would not be processed by the IST2008 TPC.
    • Proposals corresponded by student authors should obtain prior approval of their advisors before submission. All correspondences would also address the co-authors for their information.
    • The attention of prospective authors is drawn to the IST2008 policy on plagiarism. Use of material from other sources without giving credit to the reference is not ethical. Proposals containing plagiarism would not be considered by the IST2008 TPC.
    • To avoid plagiarizing, credit must be given whenever the followings are used:

      • another person’s idea, opinion, or theory.
      • any facts, statistics, graphs, drawings—any pieces of information—that are not common knowledge.
      • quotations of another person’s actual spoken or written words.
      • paraphrase of another person’s spoken or written words.

  • Workshops
    Tutorial proposals on subjects describing new developments in systems, technologies or applications are welcomed. Length should be tailored for half-day or full-day presentation using PowerPoint or overhead projector slides. Distribution of supplementary handouts or brochures is encouraged.

  • Exhibition Proposals
    There will be a limited exhibition space for exhibitors of latest innovations in ICT. Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their practicality, relevance and priority.
